Ah, how lovely - I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Harvey is a talker - I'm so jealous of all the folk that have talkative parrots!! If he doesn't talk we're going down the sign language school - I'll have the world's first signing parrot!!![]()
Kofi (my Timneh) is a smart & happy boy who is up to 32 words now. He's just over a year old. Spanky, a chunky, 4.5 month old Jardine's has been with us for a week. This morning spoke his first 2 words (Kofi's name, then my name), and did so in a voice that I swear is as clear as any Grey. I was pleasantly amazed, and would not have believed it if he did not repeat the feat several times.

Congratulations Mingus for having two great talking fids.

Within all of us is a varying amount of space lint and star dust, the residue from our creation. Most are too busy to notice it, and it is stronger in some than others. It is strongest in those of us who fly and is responsible for an unconscious, subtle desire to slip into some wings and try for the elusive boundaries of our origin. ~K.O. Eckland, "Footprints On Clouds"

Let your bird frequently watch other greys talking online (Einstein vocabulary practice, salvatores phone call,... Conversation with Tui,... on youtube). My birds take it for an actual bird, and become encouraged to join in. Other than that, just keep talking to your bird as much as possible, just as you would with a kid.
My birds love these, they really talk back to them after a while...
Kofi is actually picking up new words from the videos. I play them each a few minutes every day. Always looking for new stuff, too.
