I have looked at those acrylic cages and I am not interested in them, they don't look to me like they would have adequate ventilation and the prices are so high. Maybe some of the other members have or use them and give you their opinion on them.
Just wondering about Acrylic Bird Cages.
I have a lorikeet and his poo is like liquid. It's soo hard to keep everything clean. Espically from my floor! I have a blanket around the cage because it's so projectile. But I hate the way the blanket makes my house look.
Anyway...what do you guys think about them?
I thought about buying one for my lorikeet to keep his place cleaner and mine!
I know I need to look at one that have plenty of ventilation. The place I'm looking has climbing bars that hang on the inside...which, my bird loves to climb, so I would get that. And a wire top (more air flow too) because he loves to hang upside down and hang off his toys.
They add (good)perches in them and places for food/water and necture.
here is the website I'm thinking about
http://www.acrylicbirdcages.com/
They work with me and build it custom for me.
I'm just doing research before I actually do something.

Post edited by: Jingles, at: 2009/09/24 19:23

I didnt see your design on the site (didnt ecpect to) but ventilation can be problematic. Also, Lets say your bird "sqiurts" How are you going to be able to get your hand between the bars and the plastic to clean the sides of the cage? One of my firends has several Lories and purrchased plastic mats at staples (the kind you put rolling office chairs on) to go under the cage. You can buy really big ones. They are cheaper than a plastic cage and you can get a floor spot cleaner (like a roomba but with liquid and scrubby brushes) to clean the poo spots.
Hum...yea, ok...that makes a lot of sense!!!
I was very hesitant about it! you guys brought up a lot of good points! I think I'll get the plastic mats (one for the floor and one for the wall (haha - maybe not the wall!) that seems cheaper than what I was thinking!
Thanks guys!
You can also go to Lowes, Menards, or home depot in the flooring section and they have clear plastic runners that you purchse it by the foot. That is cheaper then the plastic mats from staples!
oh, that would be good!!! Yes, thank you for the tip! That could go a bit on the wall!!!!! Oh, that would be so nice!
you guys/gals are GREAT!!! Thank you! Karma for all!![]()
well, didn't realize that you could only modify karma every 6 hours. I will do it, I promise![]()
Thanks JudyGram! You're great!
