    Clay Lick in Peru

In one of the grey rooms there has been a discussion about foods that contain toxins and the fact that parrots often eat clay - this video shows exactly that - Amazons having their dessert!

Thank you for this post, it really is good to watch and makes a good point Jay Karma

A Grey is a wild animal removed from the wild, bred to be companions. They are long removed from being able to take care of themselves but not so long as to forget at times they're still wild...so it's up to us to make sure we protect them. We're the reason they demand all this attention. We removed them from the wild. Jay

I love the noise they make - this is obviously their "happy time" and the squeaking and squawking is fab!! Mind you - not sure that I'd like it going on in the house!!!

Thanks Jill for sharing that. I LOVE how they fan their tails out to chase the other amazons away.....just like Nilah does to me when I tell her it's time for bed! She also does it to try and play with my other 2 greys, but they aren't interested in her invitation.

hmy: The only tail fanning you see from Salsa is her running from Joeys cage after stealing his food, with Joey in hot pursuit of Salsa's tail... Jay
