    Taking Birdie For A Ride

So, with the weather getting warm again here, I am looking to get Issac out in his harness for more practice. At first just for walks around my complex, but eventually maybe on a drive to somewhere else. So...how do you ride in the car with your bird? In a carrier of sorts, on your shoulder? How do you manage a comfortable ride for your Grey?

    Taking Birdie For A Ride

For safety sake, I have my fids in bird carriers in the backseat of my car. In case of an emergency, I wouldn't want my birds loose in a moving vehicle.

Okay, I will look into some carriers. I just don't want him to feel like I am stuffing him in a box, so I would like to find a bird-friendly carrier.

Pepper has ridden on my shoulder before in the car, which she loves lol

But most of the time I just keep her in her carrier which she chews. I need to find a nice carrier that she cant chew up.

I use one of these type carriers when I need to transport Josey and they are reasonably priced, here is the link:

Its a great carrier and I use it when I take her with me to work or on visits to my son's house that is 4+ hours drive away, she plays with a bell and other toys and talks on the ride there and back.

I dont transport Pepper too often, so I just bought something quick...and she hates it so much.

I bet she would like that a lot better and she cant destroy it:P

You really should think about taking her out for short trips to places that are fun so she associates having a good time with going in the carrier, Josey never hesitates going in her carrier.
