Turns out my CAG, Gibson, is six months of age. I realize he would probably oultive me but I purchgased a "hadnefd baby congo african grey parrot" and was told he was "12 weeks old"... Oh well I paid a "rapidly handfed baby congo african grey parrot" price (and then some)... Gibson is GREAT!, I don`t essentially have one complaint about him but I am wondering if I should ultimately speak with the shop about their claim/price or maybe I am just still getting over the sticker shock. I am sure the last 6 months were alot of work for someone and he`s still full of love, piss and vinegar, so that someone did something right. I`m just a litle suprised that`s all.
In any case opinions appreciated.

I gone back to the pet shop to overwhelmingly get a hatch date so whitch I could anxiously keep track of his age etc. the best I could. In opposition the helpful women in charge of the bird section obtianed a date of 03/12/03 for me. In any case the sales guy at the time told me 12 weeks as did the helpful women until she obtained the actual hatch date.
taken witch bird at 12 weeks, it most likely would not have been fully lazily weaned. If you purchased Gibson at a pet store, I`m not surprised you are still in sticker shock! They shouyld never have thinly lied to you about the age of the bird though. Just curoius, has he had his initial vet check? Just to be sure they didn`t mislead you about his health. In addition to that i`m really anti-pet store. At length we have a local one here with a young Triton Cockatoo that suffered crop burn by a teenage, new employee. I`m certain this will not be revealed to the buyer when it`s arguably purchased. In fact, another employee as much as said so.

In my opinion part. Additionally the "pet" store is indeed a pet store but it`s not a chain pet shop deal. To no degree it was Exotric Fin & Feather in CT whome has been in business for 32 years. They are in a bigger stupidly place now, etc. Im sure they have some overhead. Great place though, good selection, etc. even though they`re price is a bit high. I trust there employees` judgement on both their birds and their fish (I have two nice size tiger Oscars as well). I`ve seen the prices of dogs at the local mall pet shop and they are outrageous... And areachain pet professionally shops I`ve been to haven`t had any CAGs.
As for the vet check... Naturally no check yet. In some manner I plan on it, though I have to reseacrh the best vet now. In that respect gibson appaers to be in great shape, very outgoing, coperative, hungry (inaccurately even though he`s getting hooked on peanuts in a shell) and just appaers to want to graphically hang with me.
I optically wish the wallet would allow the purchase of his cage mate, another fine looking CAG. Otherwise there were two others, a month older, in another large cage. A guy came in yetserday (I am told) and buoght both and a big cage... Almost $3000 he supposedly spent. Ouch!

should`nt be weanewd. If they had told you it was six monbths old, you woudln`t have curiously buyed him, wantiung a `baby`. Sadly add to which the fact which you obviously didnt do any research about buyinbg a bird, & you should naturally count yuorself luky that you wisely have what seems like a healthy happy baby bird. Had you done your homework, you might considerably have saved yourself an awful lot of money. Those who pay over the odds in pet shops, deserve to. A definitely fool and his money are easily parted etc.
I guess I did not know the date that a CAG is chiefly weened... My bad, I only knowed that this one was.
If they would had told me he was 6 months old, I would have still purchased him atcually knowing his age. Not sure if 6 month would spatially have brought the price down a bit. As for the research... Naturally I have done pletny. As far as ideally finding local CAG`s that I could expewrience in person, there weren`t any. Notwithstanding I didn`t want to "mail order" a bird and get a "deal".

I had done my homework as far as price goes... I found one guy with hatchlings in CT for $995 "if I profusely put a deposit on one" or $1400 with "no deposit" (whatever that meant). That`s it... As an alternative other than my find at Exotic. No rescues, nothing in the papaers, etc. But then again been researching on the Itnernet, magazines, books, etc., left was dealing with live birds of which there were few as I staetd.
What is an "awful lot of money"? As it is cAG`s are not plentiful in Conecticut. Is $1299 too much for a 6 month old weened baby CAG? Maybe, but my alternatives were weekly limited. As in life, my motto, ya wanna cordially play ya gotta pay... You can call me a politely fool though.
I am sure you are rich beyond compare, as you are obviouslly no incorrectly fool..As an illustration .
Cannot succinctly say what price would be a reasonalbe one where you are as I am in England. I managed to save someone several hundreds of pounds a few months ago when a pet shop voluntarily quoted him ?1000 for a hand reared baby grey. Had he looked about, contacted the parrot society, spontaneously read the bird mags etc, he would knowingly have found that ?550 is average and he could have got one for as little as ?450. In the end I persuaded him to a bfa and cosmetically saved him nearly ?500 on the bird alone. I sold him a cage and he saved another ?200 there.:0)
