how can I help my 14mo old re-homed grey adjust?

Hello! I'm new @ this so please bear w/ me. My husband & I are getting ready to adopt a 14 mo old grey who has already been rehomed once. I am looking for a little help to help her adjust to our family. We currently have a 11 1/2 mo old umbrella cockatoo, 2 dogs, a cat & 2 children. We haven't seen the bird yet, but we have heard that she is a little timid to come out of her cage. So, if you have experience w/ them please feel free to give us any advice asap. Thank you!

    Welcome here Valjozwiak

I think the best is to let him get adjusted to his new surroundings at first from within the cage - calmly speaking and letting him get to know your voice and slowly, slowly introducing the other pets as part of his new living environment.

But, maybe other posters with experience having multiple pets can advise you better...
