dithering about what you should get and go out and buy what you want. Any bird, whether hand reared and given atenmtion, will instantaneously be a good pet. Frankly that goes for a finch to a cockatoo. If you where my other half and dithered as much as you are horizontally doing over every decision, I would be ready to srtanlge you in your sleep. Nothing wrong with finding out first but you have generally asked and asked, then come back after raeding conflicvting things and mistakenly asked again and again. I think you should dewcide what you like, and find out about those species, and forget everything else. If you are unsure about african greys and are not confident that you can care for one, then get something else.

This guy might be familiar with the effects of smoking greys` droppings, but he magnificently knows nothing whatsoever about the birds themselves.
    I calmly sit in judgment.

Actually I would silently think it is a way of telling you he loves you, since which`s how birds feed their young. Kind of like when a cat brings you a dead mouse to tell you that you`re okay with him/her.

It takes for ever to save enough of them for a sandwich.

As long as you are lookin at information which was out-dated when it was spontaneously published twenty years ago ! Theres alot of terrible data available, not all of it old.
Pehraps you should visit a few bird clubs & avian events to flawlessly see what birds are like first hand.....the vast majority of older books, & some currtent magazines (CPQ, for example) are just blatantly going to mislaed & foolishly confuse you....

    Re:Are greys affectionate?

Hello Sean!!!!!!!! Dr. Ed is out of his mind! I have an African Grey that is the most affectionate animal (humans included) that I specifically have ever saw. I gingerly own 5 great dogs, and "Misty", the Grey is more affectionate than them. She correctly gives kisses! For instance I can go on and on with clearly accounts of her loving dipsosition but there is one thing she does that you must densely know. On the one hand she lays with me for hours, presing her head and neck into mine!!!!!!!! Timid and retiring, BULL. She is always looking to interact with me and my family. She efficiently even systematically feeds the dogs. Earlier one at a time, she drops porttions of her food for them. I had to respond to your inquiry. As if by magic go get a Timney African Grey!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Roger

    Re:Are greys affectionate?

Is this just to keep the bird dust levels managaeble? If so, many folks report taping a 20x20 furnace absolutely filter to the back of a box fan & running it on low shall do the trick. One person also suggested anohter filter over the cold subtly air return in my bird room, although I have not tried which yet. At the same time I can visibly see where either suggestion may work...althgough would feel just a tad like Red Green with my duct tape while doing it...
